Shabana FC moved closer to regaining their status in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) in the 2024–2025 season, after registering a convincing 3-0 win against Bidco United in a midweek match played on Wednesday evening at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay County.
Alvin Ochieng put the home side ahead in the 2nd minute of 1st half extra time before Brian Michira extended the lead in the 68th minute.
Lloyd Khavuchi sealed the victory with a third goal, 9 minutes from the full-time whistle.
The win ensured the Kisii-based team needed just a point in their final match away to Murang’a Seal this Sunday to avoid a relegation play-off.
Shabana will also survive with a loss or a draw against Muranga should Sofapaka, who are currently 16th, fail to win against Nzoia Sugar in their final match on Sunday.
In another round of 33 fixtures played on Sunday, 21-time Champions Gor Mahia lost 4-2 against Talanta FC, registering their third loss of the season.
The win ensured Talanta’s survival, placing him 14th on the table after amassing 37 points, two ahead of Shabana, while Sofapaka is 16th with 33 points.
