The Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) has said the Authority has no plans to shut down internet on Tuesday 25th June, 2024.

In a statement, CA Director-General David Mugonyi said the Authority had received numerous inquiries regarding an internet shutdown.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Authority has no intention whatsoever to shut down internet traffic or interfere with the quality of connectivity.“ Mugonyi said.

Such actions he says would be a betrayal of the Constitution as a whole, the freedom of expression in particular and the ethos of the Authority.

“Further such actions would sabotage our fast-growing digital economy internet connectivity supports thousands of livelihoods across the country.“ He added.

At the same time he urged Kenyans to use the digital space with respect to all and within the confines of the law.
