Preparations for the national women’s volleyball team,Malkia Strikers,for the forthcoming FIVB challenger Cup and Olympic Games received a boost after receiving Ksh.2 Million from betting firm,MozzartBet.
The sponsorship is an addition to the Ksh.15M sponsorship from the firm. Malkia Strikers is set to participate in the FIVB Challenger Cup scheduled 1st-7th July in Philippines with the squad scheduled to depart for Philippines this Saturday.
In Philippines Kenya will take on Costa Rica with a host of friendly matches planned before the Challenger Cup.
“This is just a top up to what Mozzart had given us at the start of the year. The entire amount (Sh2mn) is going to the team and will offset their allowances and as a Federation we will also top up something,” Kenya Volleyball Federation Chairman Charles Nyaberi said.
After the Philippines tournament, Kenya is set to head to Miramas,France to prepare for the Olympic Games set to be held from 24th July-11th August.
