A group of church leaders Friday gathered at the home of Molo MP, Kuria Kimani, for a cleansing exercise following the Tuesday vandalism of his residence during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 demonstrations.

The protests, sparked by widespread discontent with the passage of the bill, saw hundreds of youth take to the streets in various parts of the country to oppose it.

In Molo, the demonstrations took a destructive turn, leading to the vandalism of MP Kimani’s home.

Irate demonstrators breached the perimeter wall surrounding the MP’s house, burnt and destroyed cars even as others looted valuables.

Some of those who invaded the home walked away with animals too. The ceremony, held in the courtyard of Kimani’s home, was marked by prayers and hymns.

The MP is the chair of the National Assembly Finance committee that considered the Bill.
