CS Duale commissions construction of 788 KDF houses in Laikipia

Defence cabinet secretary Aden Duale has commissioned the construction of new 788 house units at the Kwa Mbuzi area of Laikipia County in a move aimed at addressing the housing shortage within the Kenya Defence Forces.

Currently, KDF has a shortfall of 33,400 married quarters and 25,800 single quarters.

According CS Dualle, the construction of the housing unit among others will address the acute housing deficit faced by the personnel. The initiative is a result of a public private partnership.

“The government is committed to providing suitable housing for our soldiers and their families. Our goal is to ensure their comfort in terms of shelter, healthcare and education for their children,” said CS Duale.

The project consists of (RUN GRAPHICS) 3,069 housing units spread across five regions namely Nakuru (952), Gilgil (697), Mariakani (120), Nairobi (500), and Nanyuki (788).

While the focus is primarily on single quarters (2,089 units), the project also provides 980 Married Quarters, consisting of two and three-bedroom units, to accommodate soldiers’ families.
