The Cabinet Secretary for Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Joho, met with the U.S. ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, on Wednesday at his office in Nairobi.
Joho and Whitman discussed matters relating to the Kenya-U.S. partnership, especially investment in the areas of mining, the blue economy, and maritime affairs.
The two exploited areas of collaboration to ensure they contribute fully to Kenya’s economic growth and rapidly create quality jobs for our young people.
Particularly, the focus was on collaboration that will bolster the economic value of the two countries’ minerals, boost investment in the blue economy in the areas of cold storage facilities and fish farming, and enhance maritime security.
“Over the years, Kenya and the U.S. have enjoyed cordial relations, and I am committed to ensuring that cooperation flourishes and deepens for the benefit of Kenyans. I welcome Amb. Whitman’s assurance that we will work together towards strengthening the existing cooperation between our two countries.” The CS said
Principal Secretaries Mr. Elijah Mwangi (Mining), Ms. Betsy Njagi (Blue Economy and Fisheries), and Mr. Geoffrey Eyanae Kaituko (Maritime Affairs and Shipping) were present during the meeting.
