The Indonesian Embassy in Nairobi showcased a collection of unique cultural, culinary and tourism products during the 9th edition of the Nairobi International Cultural Festival held on Saturday 8th June 2024 at the Nairobi National Museum.
The exhibition, which included displays of woven and batik cloth, wooden cultural artefacts and edible products from various regions in Indonesia, is part of the Embassy’s efforts to draw Kenyan tourists and traders to the Southeast Asian country.
“The participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Nairobi in this event was very important”, said Dr. Muhamad Hery Saripudin, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Kenya. “It is hoped that this promotional event will attract Kenyans and other foreigners to come to Indonesia, both to visit tourist attractions and buy products and invest in Indonesia.”
The Ambassador also lauded Kenya’s efforts to preserve Intangible Cultural Heritage and promote global harmony through cultural events and activities such as the festival which attracted participants from 12 Embassies and High Commissions based in Nairobi.
Indonesia further renewed its commitment to continue supporting cultural exchange initiatives in Kenyan communities through the Pencak Silat martial arts training programme which the embassy has been running across Kenya since 2021.
Additionally, the Embassy will host the 2024 Indonesia-Nairobi Expo (Indonex) at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi this September in an effort to stimulate increased trade and cooperation between the Indian Ocean states.
