A total of 190 lady golfers are taking part in the Kenya Ladies Open Pro-AM tournament a precursor to the main Magical Kenya Ladies Open at the Boabab Cvorse Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi County.
The amateur players are pitted against the elite professionals for the one-day event. The Kenya Kladies Open begins properly tomorrow.
The team led by Polish golfer, Dorota Zalewska, and comprising Esther Waititu, Doris Night, and Willy Mastermet, teed off first in the morning and was followed by the team led by 24-year-old Teresa Diez Moliner from Spain, and comprising Kishan Dhanji Raghwani, Vinay Nilesh Kerai, and John Gitonga.
22-year-old Annabell Fuller, the 2020 English Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship winner partners with Rishi Dodhia, Saj Shah, and Aamil Mughal.
German pro, Patricia Isabel Schmidt – winner of the 2023 Belgian Ladies Open, teamed up with National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, Ambassador Josphat Maikara, and Ambassador Moi Lemoshira.
Former Ingarö Ladies Open champion Marta Sanz Barrio from Spain took to the course in the company of Sheng Kaifu, Millicent Melo, and Nelson Wanyonyi.
Meanwhile, Kristýna Napoleaová, the 2023 German Masters champion from the Czech Republic, teed off at alongside Jane Nzibo, Rosemary Mkok, and Mitansh Thacker.
The Pro-AM event has also attracted several bigwigs including last year’s Magical Kenya Ladies Open hole-in-one sensation, Lisa Pettersson, German Alexandra Forsterling, winner of the 2023 Swiss Ladies Open and the 2023 Mallorca Ladies Open, Lilian Njunguna, and Rachel Ndei.
English pro Alice Hewson, who secured second place in last year’s edition, teams up with Yusuf Omari, James Kamau Mburu, and Aiddah Kabukuru. Kenyan elite amateur, Naomi Wafula, will team up with Kenya Airports Authority Chairman Caleb Kositany, Giancarlo Bonnano, and Nelius Kariuki.
