Chinese Embassy in Kenya on Wednesday held an event to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The celebrations took place amid calls for the strengthening of diplomatic, political, and economic relations in an effort to build a community with a shared prosperous future.

Over the last 74 years, the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Zhou Pingjian noted that China was able to achieve, in a short span of time, what a number of developed countries took hundreds of years to accomplish amid undertaking that China was ready to work hand in hand with other countries like Kenya to help realization of its development aspirations.

“With the historic achievements and changes for more than a decade in the new era, the Chinese nation has achieved the tremendous transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong, and China’s national rejuvenation has become an unstoppable process,” he said

He said the Chinese leaders adopted a “two-step strategic plan” to build China into a great modern socialist country in all respects by the middle of this century.

“Today, we are closer, more confident, and more capable than ever of reaching the goal of rejuvenating the Chinese nation. No force can ever stop the Chinese people and the Chinese nation from marching forward,” he said

Speaking during the ceremony, Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi lauded China over what he described as the country’s remarkable achievements. While noting that China has been one of the oldest and major partners of an independent Kenya, Mudavadi said Kenya applauds China, especially its robust foreign direct investment as seen through infrastructure projects.

“Let’s continue strengthening our ties, enhancing cooperation, and pursuing shared opportunities for mutual growth,” said Mudavadi.

“We admire the resilience and achievements of the Chinese people, who have paved the way for the remarkable transformation of modern China,” added the PCS

He said Kenya deeply values the historical, cordial, and fraternal relations between Nairobi and Beijing which he said are built on trust, mutual benefit, and non-interference in internal affairs.

“These principles are vital in nurturing strong diplomatic ties,” reiterated Mudavadi

He further noted that Kenyans acknowledge the significant progress made in socio-economic and political partnerships between the two friendly countries.

The event took place at a time China-Kenya mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Over the past 60 years, Chinese top diplomat in Nairobi says China and Kenya “have treated each other as equals, supported each other, pursed revitalization through solidarity, and have been good friends” with political mutual trust.

“Under the strategic guidance of President Xi and President Ruto, China-Kenya relations have sustained strong momentum for growth and opened a new chapter of China-Kenya friendship and cooperation,” said the Chinese Ambassador Zhou Pingjian
