The Mombasa-bound section of Uhuru Highway between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi roundabout will be closed for 10 days.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced that the temporary closure to be effected Thursday shortly before midnight will allow for the construction of a pedestrian tunnel connecting the Main Campus and Chiromo Campus.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to notify the Public that there will be temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) between Hotel Boulevard and University of Nairobi roundabout (Mombasa Bound) from 11.59 pm on Thursday March 28, 2024 to 11.59pm on Saturday April 6, 2024. This is to allow for construction of pedestrian tunnel connecting University of Nairobi Main Campus and Chiromo Campus” read the traffic movement advisory.

KeNHA Director General Kung’u Ndung’u advised all motorists accessing Uhuru Highway (A8) from Westlands and Thika Road to use alternative routes such as Harry Thuku Road, University Way, Prof. Wangari Mathai Road, and Kipande Road.

He further asked motorists to approach the affected section with caution.

“Follow the traffic signs and guidance as shall be directed by police and traffic marshals on site,” Ndung’u said.
