Junior Starlets intensify training ahead of Ethiopia clash

The national Under 17 girls soccer team , Junior Starlets, has upped the ante in its training ahead of  their upcoming two-legged third-round FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.

Kenya will begin their qualification quest away in Ethiopia on May 10 before hosting the reverse fixture nine days later in Nairobi.

Head Coach Mildred Cheche expressed her confidence in the squad with every member already in camp.

‘’We have every player in camp all the key players from the school teams,Chapa Dimba as well as Talanta Hela we are hoping to have a strong squad that will play against Ethiopia.We are prepared most of the players have been competing at the highest level locally am hopeful that we will put up a good fight despite the fact that we did not play in the last round.’’, Cheche Said.

The team is scheduled to travel to Ethiopia on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

After the two legs, the winner of the tie on aggregate will proceed to the fourth and final round, where they will face either Djibouti or Burundi.

The winner of the fourth round will secure an automatic qualification to the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in October in  Dominican Republic
