President William Ruto officially inaugurated Lenana School Primary in Nairobi on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the educational landscape of Dagoretti South Constituency’s Ngando Ward.

The newly opened school boasts 22 classrooms and is set to accommodate over 1,500 students, making it the first public primary school in the area.

During the ceremony, President Ruto announced plans for further expansion, stating that the government would construct and furnish an additional 24 classrooms to cater to the growing educational needs of the community.

“Our priority is to provide our children with access to high-quality learning environments that foster both academic excellence and holistic development,” remarked the President.

Addressing concerns over recent flood-related damages to school infrastructure, President Ruto reassured citizens that the government, through initiatives like the National Government Constituency Development Fund, will reconstruct classrooms affected by the heavy rains.

“As schools across the nation commence the second term, we are committed to restoring classrooms damaged by floods, ensuring that our students have safe and conducive learning spaces,” affirmed President Ruto.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu disclosed that discussions have been held with Members of Parliament and other stakeholders in Nairobi County to allocate funds totalling Ksh 1 billion for the construction of additional classrooms.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, Governor Johnson Sakaja, and Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie, underscoring the collective commitment to advancing education and infrastructure development in the region.
