Attorney General Justin Muturi has commended the Kenyan Chapter for its crucial role in assisting the Office of the Attorney General in resolving disputes efficiently, impartially, and confidentially.

Speaking during the 8th International Arbitration Conference hosted by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Muturi emphasised the institute’s contributions to promoting international trade and investment in an increasingly globalised and interconnected world.

Muturi, who is also the Principal Legal Adviser to the government emphasized the crucial role of arbitration in today’s globalized world, citing its efficiency, confidentiality, and impartiality in resolving disputes.

He highlighted the significant strides made by the Attorney General’s office, particularly in presenting the National Alternative Dispute Resolution Policy (Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2024) to the National Assembly.

The policy aims to foster the progressive growth of the dispute resolution sector, transforming it into a vital engine for societal change and the development of sustainable commercial relationships.

The AG further outlined the upcoming legislative agenda, which includes three key bills: the Dispute Resolution Bill, the Constructions Payment Adjudications Bill, and the Arbitration Act (Bill).

He urged members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and its broader network to support these initiatives, which are poised to modernise Kenya’s legal infrastructure for dispute resolution.
