Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has directed Chief Executive Officers of all state corporations asking them to conclude the evaluation of board members by mid-next month.
Koskei, in a Circular, made it clear that self-evaluation by boards of directors remains a critical annual performance milestone for all State Corporations and warned that any non-compliance will not be condoned.
“Mwongozo; the Code of Governance for State Corporations, and Government policy as communicated vide circular Ref. No. OP/CAB.1/43/1 of 29th June 2011 requires Boards of Directors in State Corporations to carry out annual performance evaluations and to file reports with the parent Ministry and the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC),” read the circular from the Head of Public Service
He said all Board Members’ data and particulars ought to be updated in the State Corporations Information Management Module (SCIMM) system by 15th June 2024. He also directed all state agencies to update and report promptly whenever changes occur in the Board membership
“It is appreciated that all Boards that undertook the evaluation in FY2023/2024 successfully evaluated their Corporation Secretaries and Internal Auditors and the feedback on the milestone has greatly influenced Kenya’s private sector and the international community,” said Koskei in the memo
He said it was unfortunate that a few State Corporations failed to undertake the evaluation and disclosed that necessary corrective measures are underway.
