The Confederation of African Football (CAF) interclub competitions for the 2024–2025 season will kick off between August 16th and August 18th this year with preliminary matches.
Group stage matches are penciled for between October and December 2024 followed by the knock out phase between March and May 2025.
CAF has confirmed the 12 highest-ranked member associations according to the CAF rankings who will be eligible to enter two clubs in both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
The 12 highest-ranked national associations are: Algeria, Angola, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, the DR Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
CAF has also kicked off the registration period for member associations to register their qualified clubs on the CAF Competitions Management System (CMS).
Registration Windows:
Four registration window periods have been confirmed to all participating member associations as follows:
01 July–20 July: Players participating in the preliminary round
21 July–31 August: Players participating in the Second Preliminary Round
01–30 September: Players participating in the Group Stages
01–31 January 2025: Maximum of seven (7) additional players, including four (4) replacements.
The addition of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup remains cancelled.
Consequently, teams eliminated in the second round of the CAF Champions League will no longer transition into the CAF Confederation Cup.
Clubs that advance from the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup will proceed directly to the group stage of the competition.
21-time Kenyan Premier League champion Gor Mahia will represent the country in the CAF Champions League, starting at the preliminary stage, while the CAF Confederation representative will be known later this month as Kenya Police FC faces Kenya Commercial Bank in the Mozzartbet Cup final.
