Chapa Dimba tournament heads to Bomet and Nakuru for inter-county playoffs

The  Chapa Dimba football tournament heads to Bomet and Nakuru counties this weekend for inter-county finals. 

A total of sixteen teams from South and Central Rift will battle it out for a chance to participate in the Rift Valley Regional finals scheduled 11th and 12th November in Nakuru.

On Saturday, the action will be at Silibwet Stadium in Bomet, where Kabianga High School from Kericho will take on Ololunga FC from Narok in the Boys’ opening match.

In another match, the regional defending champions, Laiser Hill Academy (Formally Al-Ahly FC) from Kajiado, will be aiming for nothing but victory when they face off against the home team, Kamungei FC.

“It hasn’t been easy to reach this stage of the playoffs. We have faced many teams, some of which were truly formidable. I am grateful to my players for their unwavering focus. This is a crucial stage where a single mistake can eliminate us. As the reigning champions, we are keen to defend our regional title and eventually clinch the national championship in February 2024,” said, John Mwaura, Head coach, Laiser Hill Academy.

In the Girls’ category, an exciting showdown is expected as  recently crowned Kajiado County Champions, Tembea FC, go  head-to-head with  Blue Hills FC from Kericho.

Meswondo from Bomet FC will take on Ol Melil Secondary School from Narok County. The victors in both the Boys’ and Girls’ categories will earn regional finals ticket.

On Sunday, the action moves to Nakuru Rift Valley Institute Grounds, where top teams from  Central Rift will battle for regional slots.

Mwenge FC from Nakuru will welcome Mighty Lakers from Nyandarua in the Boys’ category, while Bamba Youth from Baringo will square off against Lorubae.

In the Girls’ category, the hosts, Trinity Mission Girls, are set to meet Kisima Girls from Samburu. In the second girls’ match, Mogotio Girls from Baringo will go head-to-head with Ridges Queens from Nyandarua.

All matches are scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m. The  champions in the Boys’ and Girls’ categories, will advance to the regional finals where they will meet sides from  North and North-West Rift.

Wiyeta Girls from Kitale, Itigo Girls from Nandi, Ndura Sports and PASC Langa FC are some of the opponents from the North and North West Rift that await in the regional finals.

The rift region had the highest number of teams in this year’s Chapa Dimba tournament with a total of 738 teams registering for the championship which began at the ward level.
