Governor Wavinya Ndeti now says her administration will be keen on strengthening the transport sector as a key driver of the local economy.

Speaking while commissioning the Kangundo Bus Park Thursday afternoon, the Governor noted that efficient movement of goods and people was instrumental in jobs creation and growth of the local economy.

She said her Government will firm up programs aimed at boosting the county’s infrastructure development including improving social amenities in urban areas in order to attract more investors.

“Transport remains a key pillar in economic development and my Government is keen in putting in place better policies to support and grow the transport sector in Machakos county,” said the Governor.

Citing Kangundo’s huge potential in agricultural production, Wavinya urged stakeholders in the transport sector to support her programs, noting that more revenue and employment opportunities would be realized in the long run.

“As county Government, our commitment to improve our roads infrastructure remains firmly on course. Currently we are in the process of tarmacking several roads and grading dozens others that were severely damaged by the recent heavy rains,” she said.

She announced that every Sub-County across Machakos had an ongoing road construction project which her administration was blending with improvement of other social amenities to attract more investors.
