It is never too late for anyone to find peace in realising their childhood dreams.
This is according to former Finance Minister Dr Robinson Njeru Githae at the launch of his fifteen books of fiction.
To him, the launch symbolizes the realization of his childhood dream of becoming a published author whose delay he attributes to his active career as a lawyer, politician, minister and ambassador.
Something about Dr Githae’s fifteen books stands out. The Trial prefix appearing on every title. The Trial of Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi, The Trial of the Mysterious Mugo wa Kibiru, The Trial of Tom Mboya, and so forth.
It is an aspect that caught the eyes of those in attendance. When asked to explain, Githae said ” I would rather leave this for the reader to discover”.
He says he started working on the titles when he was still in active public service life but was only able to focus on the project better after retirement.
Court of Appeal Judge Mwaniki Gachoka, who mentored Dr Githae emphasizes the need for writers to tell Kenyan stories.
Former Interior Principal Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho who graced the launch called on Kenyans to embrace the culture of reading African literature.
Dr Githae talks of writing as one way of creating jobs adding that his late sister Prof Miceere Mugo partly influenced his love for writing.
