The fate of Charles Githinji, President William Ruto’s nominee for Consul-General to the Democratic Republic of Congo in Goma now lies with Parliament.
This is after the National Assembly departmental committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations tabled its report rejecting his nomination.
In the report, the committee stated that the nominee demonstrated lack of knowledge on the expected duties of a consular general.
Committee Chair Nelson Koech said the committee okayed the nomination of the other 23 foreign envoys and four consular general nominees.
The house is set to debate the committee report for possible adoption.
