President Ruto inaugurates Kangema KMTC Campus

Kangema Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campus in Murang'a County

The government has pledged Kshs 65 million towards equipping the Kangema Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campus in Murang’a County, to meet high standards before admitting new students.

Constructed by the NG-CDF at a cost of Ksh100 million and occupying 11 acres of land donated by the Murang’a County government, the institution is set to welcome its first cohort of students in September this year (2024) .

Addressing students from neighboring Murang’a KMTC, parents, and locals during the official opening of the college, President William Ruto highlighted government’s commitment to providing top-notch healthcare professional training.

He emphasized that the completion and operation of the school would contribute significantly to achieving Universal Health Coverage, as well-trained personnel are valuable both locally and internationally.

Additionally, President Ruto allocated Kshs 100 million towards expanding Kangema Subcounty Hospital, which will serve as a training ground for students enrolled in the new KMTC branch.

CS Nakhumicha reiterated her call for Kenyans to embrace the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), which aims to reform the healthcare sector in the country. She urged residents to participate in public consultations on SHIF regulations.
