Kenyan ensemble Sauti Sol has taken a bow after holding what is considered their last concert at the just concluded Sol Fest concert.

The sold-out event which took place between November 2 and 4 drew huge crowds and was headlined by celebrated rapper and artist Nyashinski.

As the rapper finished his set he shouted, “Long Live Sauti Sol” to a cheering crowd.

Early this year, the group made up of Bien Baraza, Austin Chimano, Polycarp Otieno, Savara Mudigi announced that they were going on hiatus, despite spending the previous year working on individual projects.

Throughout their career, Sauti Sol has represented Kenya not only on the continent but around the world holding concerts in Europe and the US.

In 2021, their musical efforts were recognised by the Grammy awards for their work on Burna Boy’s album Twice As Tall.

Taking to Instagram to thank their fans, they wrote, “To our incredible fans, our greatest love and voice! We’re beyond grateful for 20 incredible years of your unwavering support.

Thank you for making @solfestafrica the ultimate festival in East Africa!

While we’re taking a short break, remember, Solfest lives on because of YOU. Stay tuned for what’s next!”
