Seven arrested for vandalizing railway line

Seven suspects have been arrested for trying to steal and vandalizing Railway line and property worth millions of shillings destroyed.

The seven stole railguards and slippers in Ol’ Loriondo village, Okalou Town Nyandarua County.

The gang which identifies its self as “RICHGANG” is believed to have come from Gachie ,Kiambu County following a cross examination by security teams in the area.

According to Deputy Police County Commander Nyandarua Central Brigit Kanini Kilozo they received an alert from the Kagaa Location Joseph Waweru Chief who heard loud bangs of metals being loaded to a truck at around 2.00am and they responded immediately.

On their arrival, they intercepted a truck (KDD 157U)full of railway guards and slippers and in the process they were able to arrest Seven people while trying to escape using a Toyota Hilux (KDC 944Z) PickUp Car

She added that in recent cases there have been cases of thugs vandalizing public properties in the area and warned the culprits that the security team is in high gear to eradicate all criminals in the region through coordination with the locals and public at large.

Further she asked the locals who reside around the railway line to practice agricultural activities which cannot interfere with the visibility of the line as she attributed the destruction with the maize plantation along the line which makes it hard for passersby to notice any unusual businesses around the railway line.

The locals thanked the security team for their quick response urging for security beef up around the area as many cases of robbery has been witnessed and also the government to employ strict measures for illegal scrap metal business which was banned some years ago and all culprits to face full force of the law
