The government says it will engage with retired security officers who have a fountain of knowledge and experience in dealing with criminals.
This was revealed during the launch of a book written by Retired Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police Omar Abdi Shurie titled “Beyond Call of Duty” which was attended by current and retired security chiefs.
Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo, who was the chief guest, said the state will collaborate with retired security agents in the areas of intelligence gathering, amid calls for security officers to remain patriotic.
On Thursday morning political leaders, security chiefs both retired and serving, family and friends gathered at the Administration police training College APTC Utawala Nairobi county.
The leaders and officers congratulated Shurie for documenting his 45 years of experience in the security docket. In his book, Shurie paints the need for uniformed officers to go beyond the call of duty be patriotic and serve the country.
Additionally, there were calls for the public to work with security organs to beef up security within the community.
