Question Time in the National Assembly will resume on Wednesday, 28th February 2024 during the afternoon sitting.
Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage Aisha Jumwa and her Education Counterpart Ezekiel Machogu are scheduled to appear before the House to respond to Members’ Questions.
Among other things, Jumwa is expected to provide answers to lawmakers’ questions regarding the changes the Government has made to the disbursement model of the Women Enterprise Fund (WEF), a significant reduction in the allocation to the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) in the FY 2023/2024 budget for projects across the 47 counties; and the breakdown of the funds allocated and disbursed for the provision of sanitary pads.
On his part, Machogu will respond to questions regarding the criteria used to disburse infrastructure funds to schools in the Country and the disbursement of an average capitation grant by the Ministry.
Machogu who will be making his third appearance before the National Assembly will be further put to task of providing details on the measures undertaken by the Ministry to bolster Guidance and Counselling Departments in public schools and the status of implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and measures in place to ensure its success; and the ownership of valid land documents by public schools in the country.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, in adherence to Standing Order 42A (5) and (6), in a previous session had emphasized the significance of such engagements, affirming, “These sessions epitomize the essence of democratic accountability and parliamentary oversight. I urge Members to fully engage the Cabinet Secretaries and get answers on behalf of Kenyans.
