You can’t remain faceless and leaderless, Kuria tells Gen Z

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has challenged youthful Kenyans who have been agitating for change both on social media and through demonstrations to organize themselves into an outfit that can be used to push their agenda.

According to Kuria, Gen Zs cannot remain amorphous and ought to have an identity if the issues they have been raising must turn into actions that will bring about the desired change.

“You (Gen Zs) cannot say I am faceless, I am leaderless, I am tribeless. If you are convinced of what you are saying, why would you find it difficult to say I am here and this is what I mean?,” posed Kuria

The CS noted that soon the country will be back to elections, a platform where meaningful change is made and that Gen Z can leverage the polls to either seek leadership positions or vote out those they consider unsuitable. But he insists that can only happen if the group is organized into an entity that has structures.

“These people want to replace us in government. If you are not going to turn up today to talk, to have a face, to have a leader, or an organization or political party, how else are you going get that power? It is totally illusionary,” he said during a Citizen TV interview Wednesday night

Kuria spoke as he expressed his support for the proposed national dialogue under the multi-sectoral forum as announced by President William Ruto.

“There comes a time and this is the moment that we have to talk to each other and not at each other. Why would anyone on earth have a problem with dialogue? People dialogue all the time,” he said

Kuria insists it was wrong to denounce leaders when they express their willingness to participate in a conversation that will help the country out of a crisis.

“I don’t know why in this country dialogue is synonymous with handshake. Gen Z has been telling us we are not listening. Not listening means dialogue,” stated the CS

“I am afraid that people who are not boarding wataachwa kwa mataa na Wakennya wenyewe. People are in that mood. What is wrong with dialogue? What is wrong with presenting a petition? Young because began a conversation and that conversation must have an end game,” stated the CS
